Right before the race we tried to pump each other up, we prayed and said we’d give it our all, and that’s exactly what we did,” said Kristen Bewley right after she, Cassie Bock, Darra Johnson and Hannah King set the new Meade County High School record for the Girl’s 200 yd Freestyle Relay. Just two weeks prior, the girl’s relay team just missed setting a new MCHS record by 4/100th of a second. On Dec. 21, they left nothing to chance. Swimming at the Falling Springs Arts and Recreation Center in Woodford County, they shattered the old record of 1:49.88 by over a second and a half, dropping the MCHS record time to 1:48.25. A second and one half is an eternity in swimming competition.
