Harrodsburg resident to start duties as new IDA coordinator Jan. 1
By LARRY SEE JR.
Del White of Harrodsburg in Mercer County was hired, effective Jan. 1, as the Meade County/Brandenburg Industrial Development Authority’s new coordinator.
The announcement was made by Authority Chairman David Pace Dec. 17 at the conclusion of a special-called meeting.
Mercer has a wealth of industrial development experience, including a stint as the executive director for the Harrodsburg-Mercer County Industrial Development Authority.
While there, he was responsible for all aspects of the economic development program, including site selection, development and marketing.
White was also the executtive director of the Morehead/Rowan County Industrial Development Council, Inc., where he was responsible for the implementation of a development plan for the industrial park. He also was credited with attracting 612 jobs to the community.
White is currently a member of the Kentucky Economic Development Association.
“We have executed a contract with him effective Jan. 1, 2009, and he will represent us on behalf of all economic development issues for the community,” Pace said. Salary terms were not disclosed.
“We have made him an offer and he has accepted our offer,” Pace continued.
White is expected to start at the combined Chamber/IDA office on Jan. 5, which Pace also said is the first day the new office will be open.
“He was the right fit and that was what we were looking for,” Pace said. “This is going to be a great Christmas present to the community, but we have to do a lot of legwork between now and then.”
