ALICE S. MATHEWS Alice S. Mathews, 92, Irvington, died Dec. 26, 2005, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept.. 7, 1913, in Fresno, Calif., the daughter of John Adams Stiff and Carrie Harrison Stiff. She was a school teacher most of her life in Irvington and the western part of the state. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mathews. Mrs. Mathews is survived by a brother, Duward Stiff, Brandenburg; and two sisters, Mildred Keys, Clarkson, and Jewel Higginbotham, Florida. Funeral services will be held Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Shacklett officiating.
