VIRGIL A. “CODY” RIGGS SR.

Virgil A. “Cody” Riggs Sr., 73, Brandenburg, died Aug. 29, 2005, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He was born May 9, 1932, the son of William and Flora Ellen Robinson Riggs.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and retired from Brown Equipment, Corydon, Ind.

Mr. Riggs is survived by his wife, Loretta Priest Riggs, Brandenburg; five children, Brenda Gail Raley, Brandenburg, Virgiline Weatherly, Virgil Riggs Jr., Central, Ind., Terry Riggs and Eric Riggs, Guston; a stepson, Larry Priest, Irvington; a brother, Jimmy Riggs, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Elliott, Louisville, and Evelyn Smith, Guston; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 1 from the chapel of Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Burial was in Cap Anderson Cemetery directed by Hager Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearer was Jim Dukette. Active pallbearers were Ron Raley, Cody Riggs, Jeremy Riggs, Joey Riggs, Lawrence Weatherly, Joey Chandler, Kelly Benham and Troy Benham.
