SISTER MARTIN GERTRUDE MATTINGLY, OSU Sister Martin Gertrude Mattingly OSU, 97, an Ursuline sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died Sept. 18, 2005, at Mount Saint Joseph in her 77th year of religious life. She was a native of Knottsville. An educator for over 50 years, she taught at Flaherty Elementary School, 1949-1950. She was principal and teacher in many schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville and Diocese of Owensboro. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1984. Sister Martin is survived by two sisters, Merici Millay and Margaret Payne; a brother, Vincent E. Mattingly, all of Owensboro; nieces and nephews; and the members of her religious community. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 22, from Mount Saint Joseph, directed by Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro.
