BEARD, ALFRED JUNIOR Alfred Junior Beard, 69, Flaherty, died Aug. 19, 2005, at his residence. He was born June 10, 1936, the son of Albert Alfred and Viola Cundiff Beard. He was a member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Beard is survived by his wife, Lou Westerman Beard, Flaherty; four children, Lee Ann (Michael) Neal, Weatherford, Texas, Cathy (Scott) Poe, Linton, Ind., Patti (Robert) Krauser, Rineyville, and Alan J. Beard, Ekron; five grandchildren, Jeff and Jenny Poe, Christina and, William Krauser and Jessica Neal; five brothers, Louis Beard, McDaniels, Henry Beard, Ramsey, Ind., Clifford Garrett, Guston, Wayne Garrett, Leitchfield, and Curtis Garrett; three sisters, Dorothy Miller, Lodiburg, Bertha Beard, Corydon, Ind., and Iva Miller, Hardinsburg. Funeral services were held Aug. 21 from Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Moore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, directed by Hager Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Tony Janes Sr., Tony Janes Jr., Edwin Hubbard, S.L. Blair, Mike Flaherty and Houston Haynes. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Salem Baptist Church building fund or to Hospice of Central Kentucky.
