MARIE GERDA MITCHELL

Marie Gerda Mitchell, 77, Vine Grove, died Aug. 20, 2005, at home. She was born in Nussloch, Germany and immigrated to the United States with her husband Henry in 1957.

She helped establish the New Apostolic Church in the Vine Grove/Radcliff area and was the mainstay of the church for the next 35 years. She resided in Vine Grove for 42 years and was always available to help friends, neighbors and organizations such as the Red Cross and March of Dimes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her son, Jimmie; and her daughter, Jennie.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Tanya Sherrard and Sanya (James) Darby, all of Radcliff; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Paul (Shirley) Mitchell, Campbellsville, and Donnie (Clare) Mitchell, Perris, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Michele Mitchell, Vine Grove; nine grandchildren, Michael, Douglas, Jennifer, Julie, Natasha, Candace, Jorden, Alyssa and Kristen; eight great-grandchildren; and her long-time friend and buddy, Mrs. Kathe Avila.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 from the chapel of Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Radcliff, with District Elder Taylor officiating. There will be a private burial at Vine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Aug. 25.
