JACKIE LEROY STURGEON Jackie Leroy Sturgeon, 71, Ekron, died April 20, 2006, at his home on Weiss Lake in Centre, Ala., where he was an avid fisherman. He was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Brandenburg to the late Henry S. Sturgeon and Lovie Sturgeon Shacklette. He retired from Fort Knox Civil Service Dependent Schools, and was a farmer. He was a member and Past Master of Bewleyville Masonic Lodge #228 and a member of Buck Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Sturgeon. Mr. Sturgeon is survived by his wife, JoAnn Bruner Sturgeon; a son, Jackie Joe (Jennifer) Sturgeon; a daughter, Jenny Sturgeon Hobbs; three sisters, Betty (Jack) Kohler, Marian (Paul) Miller, and Audra Triplett; and four grandsons, Chad Hobbs, Byron Hobbs, Greg Hobbs and John Sturgeon. Funeral services were held April 23 from Buck Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Campbell officiating. Burial was in Buck Grove Cemetery, Ekron, directed by Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
