Joseph John “Papa Joe” Dicken, 87, Palmyra, Ind., died June 9, 2007. He was born June 5, 1920, the son of the late Joseph H. and Katherine Swartz Dicken. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and a retired cab driver with Yellow Cab. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Dicken. Mr. Dicken is survived by a daughter, Gina L. (William) Wolfe, Palmyra, Ind.; three grandchildren, Mellissa (Nicholas) McDaniel, Timothy Hatzman and Jessica (Josh) Higgins, Brandenburg; a sister Kate Spalding, Louisville; and a brother, Ralph Dicken Sr., Louisville. Funeral services will be held June 14 at noon from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pennsylvania Run Cemetery, Louisville. Friends may call at the funeral home June 13, 5-8 p.m., and after 10 a.m. June 14. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the funeral home for the family.
