BETTYE JANE MILLER Bettye Jane Miller, 78, Fearrington Village, Pittsboro, N.C., formerly a resident of Doe Valley, Brandenburg, and Oaklandon, Ind., died July 27, 2007. The youngest of seven children, she was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Hurts’ Woods, on the west side of Indianapolis, Ind., to William and Mamie Hurt. She attended Warren Central High School and graduated from Goshen High School. She was married to the late Dr. Joseph Arthur Miller and lived in Oaklandon, for most of her married life, where they raised four daughters. She lived a faith-filled life and was a member of Oaklandon Christian Church and Brandenburg United Methodist Church. She and “Dr. Joe” founded “The Den,” an outreach program for children of Oaklandon. She was a lover of books and owned and operated The Word Center, a Christian bookstore in Oaklandon. As an innkeeper, she hosted many guests in her Oaklandon bed and breakfast, “The Barn House.” An avid gardener, animal lover, and homemaker, she dedicated her life to her church, family, and community. Mrs. Miller is survived by her four daughters and their spouses, Billie Lou and Robert Clarke, Jane Ellen and Ray Wolf, Eleisabeth Anne Miller and Daniel Messner, and Aime Jo and John Palmer; eight grandchildren, Tanya and Andrew Wildish, Brian Clarke, Megan and Gary Crunkleton, Ryan Wolf, Gabrielle Miller-Messner, Genesee Rickel, Lauren Rickel and Roisy Rickel; four great-grandchildren, Drew Wildish, Shelby Wildish, William Wildish and Mimi Kohler; a brother, Paul Ted, and his wife, Ruth Hurt, New Bern, N.C. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m., Aug. 2 at Brandenburg United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Funeral services will take place Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. from Oaklandon Christian Church, Oaklandon, Ind.
