HOBART LEROY COOMES Hobart Leroy Coomes, 97, Brandenburg, died Aug. 25, 2007, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He was born Jan. 23, 1910, in Breckinridge County, the son of the late Oral and Effie (Norton) Coomes. He was a member of the Payneville Baptist Church and retired from Smith Auto Supply He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta (Smith) Coomes; three grandsons; and one great-grandson. Mr. Coomes is survived by two daughters, Edna (Jimmy) Brown, Webster, and Bonnie Dodson, Elizabethtown; two sons, Leroy (Virginia) Coomes, Brandenburg, and Lamar Coomes, Payneville; a brother, Omer Coomes, Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. from Payneville Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Wilson officiating. Interment will be in New Highland Cemetery, Brandenburg, directed by Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Aug. 27.
