SFC Daniel Edward Miller, 43, Rineyville, died Aug. 24, 2007, in an accident in Herat, Afghanistan. During a military career which spanned 21 years, he was formerly based at Fort Knox, a member of the First Brigade, First Infantry Division of the U.S. Army out of Fort Riley, Kan., a member of the Police Mentoring Team in Farah, Afghanistan; and a veteran of Desert Storm. A faithful Roman Catholic, he attended St. Patrick Parish of Fort Knox and St. Christopher Parish of Radcliff. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and is posthumously being honored for his “patriotism enlightened and informed by religion” with promotion to the rank of Knight of the Fourth Degree. SFC Miller is survived by his wife of 22 years, Anne Miller; four daughters, Michaela, Maggie, Marianna and Lucy; two sons, Lucas and Dominic; his parents, Harold and Susan Miller, his brothers, Dusty and Fred Miller; and a sister, Shelly Kaufman, all of Thornville, Ohio; his wife’s parents, Helen and Casimer Przybylowski, Rossford, Ohio; his fellow service members and friends; and several children of the members of the St. Benedict Homeschool Association. Funeral services will be held Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. from St. Christopher Parish, Radcliff. Friends may call at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Radcliff, Aug. 31, 4-9 p.m. The Holy Rosary and prayer vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at 10 a.m. Sept. 1. Burial will take place Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. from St. Rose Parish in Perrysburg, Ohio. The Daniel Miller Memorial Fund to assist SFC Miller’s widow and six children has been established at the Cecilian Bank. Condolences may be mailed to P.O.
