Elvie Ray Stewart, 82, Brandenburg, died Jan. 13, 2007, at the Elizabethtown Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 7, 1924, the son of John Raymond and Flora Bell Brown Stewart. He was a member of the Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 F&AM, Rock Haven Baptist Church, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ione Riggs Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by a son, Dennis Stewart, Louisville; a granddaughter, Dena Ray Stewart; a sister, Marie King, Middletown; a brother, Ellis Neal Stewart, Valley Station; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Rev. William “Happy” Chandler officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Garnettsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Jan. 16, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., and after 8 a.m. Jan. 17. Masonic Rites will be held Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home.
