BESSIE BROWN

Bessie Brown, 76, Irvington, died Sept. 8, 2007, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. She was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Meade County, the daughter of Bill Ditto and Gertie Banks Ditto.

She was employed by the Quarter Master Laundry at Fort Knox and later was a cook with Little Sisters of the Poor, Louisville. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Irvington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wathen Brown, a daughter, Rosie Lee Brown, and a son, Wathen Brown Jr.

Mrs. Brown is survived by a son, Charles Brown, Louisville; a daughter, Frances Brown Perks, Irvington; 15 grandchildren; and two sisters, Lacretia Welch, Brandenburg, and Ora Belle Cleaver, Guston.

Funeral services will be held Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery. Irvington. Friends may call at the funeral home Sept. 11, 6-9 p.m., and after 8 a.m. Sept. 12.
