Pfc. Sammie Eugene Phillips, 19, Vine Grove, died Sept. 10, 2007, in Rustamiyah, Iraq, while serving his country. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, Kentucky Army National Guard, Carlisle. He was a 2006 graduate of North Hardin High School, Radcliff, and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, Radcliff. He was preceded in death by a grandfather Bobby Crutcher. Pfc. Phillips is survived by his wife, Ashley Phillips, Vine Grove; his parents, Rachel and Donnie Crutcher, Cecilia, and Ron Phillips, Elizabethtown; eight siblings, Cassie Phillips and Logan Crutcher, both of Cecilia, Monique Phillips, Elizabethtown, Dominque Phillips, Clarksville, Tenn., Ronald Phillips, Elizabethtown, Derrick Linton, Bardstown, Ledarian Jones, Richmond, and Montell Phillips, Eminence; his grandparents, Ted and Sandie Stiles, Neva Crutcher, Sammie and Trudy Phillips; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Maureen Wilcox, Vine Grove. Funeral Services will be held Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. from Stithton Baptist Church, Radcliff, with Chaplain Jay Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, with full military honors, directed by Coffey & Chism Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home Sept. 20 and 21, 3-8 p.m., at Stithton Baptist Church after noon Sept. 22.
