Dr. Frank L. Gliottone, 90, died Nov. 27, 2007, at Harrison County Hospital, Corydon, Ind. He was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Angelo and Maria Borrelli Gliottone. He graduated from the University of Rochester in 1939 where he was a three-year letterman in football. He completed a three-month course at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, was a lieutenant commander and served as a submarine officer during World War II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Submarine Combat Insignia. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School in 1951 then rejoined the Navy as a dental officer during the Korean War. He practiced dentistry in New York City for 30 years and was a lifelong member of the American Dental Association, the Retired Naval Officers Association, the Corydon Country Club and the United Methodist faith. He was former owner/operator of Francesco’s of Corydon. Dr. Gliottone is survived by his wife, Marcia Harmon Gliottone; a son, H. Scott Berry, Louisville; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hope, Louisville; a brother, Alex Gliottone, Lancaster, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home Nov. 30 after 11 a.m.
