ELEANOR RAY MITCHAM

Eleanor Ray Mitcham, 81, Brandenburg, died Dec. 13, 2007, at Norton Hospital, Louisville. She was born April 22, 1926, the daughter of Russell Ray Carden and Sanders Elizabeth Wilson Carden.

She was a member of the Irvington United Methodist Church, worked with Tobin Insurance in Irvington for 15 years and was an avid golfer and member of Hillcrest Country Club in Brandenburg.

She was preceded in death by a nephew, Mark Carden.

Mrs. Mitcham is survived by her husband, Ralph “Punch” Mitcham; four children, Becky (Joe) Richardson, Louisville, Tom (Carla) Mitcham, Clarkson, Mich., and Dave (Sue) Mitcham and Steve Mitcham, both of Brandenburg; two sisters, Bobbye (Jerry) Tarter, Louisville, and Martha (Ron) Pile, Brandenburg; a brother, Tom (Betty) Carden, Irvington; seven grandchildren, Jo Lyn Vowels, Jason Richardson, Brad Mitcham, Christy Walker, Rusty Mitcham, Cole Mitcham and Ryan Mitcham; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 16 from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home, Irvington, with Rev. Janet Carden and Rev. Allen Baysinger. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Irvington United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth in Kentucky.
