Harold E. Vertrees, 80, Radcliff, died Dec. 18, 2007, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. He was a member of North Hardin Christian Church in Radcliff. After serving his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II, he retired as a custodian from Fort Knox High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Louise Vertrees; two sons, Larry Edward Vertrees and Dannie Dale Vertrees; and a sister, Dolores Mae Helm. Mr. Vertrees is survived by four daughters, Joyce Martin, Toledo, Ohio, Sandy Pride, Brady, Neb., Sharon Cantrill, Vine Grove, and Patricia Horn, Radcliff; a son, Michael Vertrees, Radcliff; 22 grandchildren including Rhonda K. Reiff whom he and his wife raised; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Norman Lee Vertrees, Radcliff, and Carl Vertrees, Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services will be held Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. from North Hardin Christian Church, Radcliff, with Bro. Ron Hockman officiating. Burial will be in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, directed by Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Radcliff.
