LORRAINE M. ALLEN Lorraine M. Allen, 89, died Dec. 28, 2006, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Ind. She was born Aug. 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Ernest and Ada Ann (Chancellor) Mercer. She was a lifetime member and former Worthy Matron of the J.R. Dink Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, former head of the Meade County March of Dimes, former member of Meade County Homemakers, former Meade County coordinator for the American Red Cross and a member of First Baptist Church. She was lovingly cared for by Valli Johnston, Nina Justice and Stacey Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Allen; two brothers, Rodney Mercer and John L. Mercer; and twin sisters, Bertrice and Berniece. Mrs. Allen is survived by three children, Sally (Don) Crenshaw, Robards, Nick (Linda) Allen and Tony L. (Patsy) Allen, both of Brandenburg; a sister, Ona J. (Leck) Craycroft, Brandenburg; four grandchildren, Gus L. Allen, Sally Elizabeth Allen, Steven N. Allen and Jeremy E. Crenshaw; a great-grandson, Griffin L. Allen; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church in Brandenburg. Burial will follow in Buck Grove Cemetery, directed by Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home Dec. 31 from 5-9 p.m., and after 8:30 a.m. Jan. 1. Expressions of sympathy may may take the form of contributions to Alzheimer’s Association and the building fund at First Baptist Church in Brandenburg.
