MELVIN A. ‘MICKEY’ THOMPSON

Melvin A. “Mickey” Thompson, 67, Vine Grove, died Feb. 11, 2007 at Hospice in Atlanta, Ga.

He was a former barber and worked in Alaska for 19 years on pipelines. He also was a small aircraft pilot. He loved to travel in the United States and abroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. Thompson and Frances E. Thompson; two siblings, Margaret Mary Thompson Smith and Delores Thompson Yamrus; and a niece, Vickie Smith Hall.

Mr. Thompson is survived by seven sisters and brothers, Dorothy Thompson Woodham, Ozark, Ala., Robert A. “Bobby” Thompson, Bellville, Ohio, Betty Anne Thompson Powers, Louisville, Freddy Joe Thompson, Big Spring, Bernard Leo Thompson, Atlanta, Ga., Wanda Thompson Martin, Ekron, and Sandy Faye Thompson Wilson, Irvington; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass will be held Feb. 16 at 11 from St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, with Rev. Paul Beach officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Church Cemetery, directed by Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Vine Grove. Friends may call at the funeral home Feb. 15, 3-8 p.m. There will be a prayer service Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. from the funeral home.
