CHARLES A. ‘POP’ VESSELS JR. Charles A. “Pop” Vessels Jr., 81, died March 14, 2007, at Medco Center, Brandenburg. He served his country in the Pacific as a U.S. Marine corporal during War World II and the citizens of Louisville as a sergeant with the Louisville Fire Department. After retiring, he moved from Louisville to his hometown of Rhodelia, where he enjoyed many years of farming. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Louella Flaherty Vessels. Mr. Vessels is survived by his children, William Vessels, Cartersville, Ga., Ronald Vessels and Ginger Figg, both of Louisville, Daniel Vessels, Greensburg, Sharon Able Nichols, Shelbyville, Dale Vessels, Stephensport, as well as his daughters-in-law and son-in-law; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Leon Vessels, Union Star, and Gene Vessels, Payneville. Funeral services were held March 17 from St. Theresa Catholic Church, Rhodelia, with military honors. Arrangements were handled by Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg.
