John Cook III, 57, Vine Grove, died June 16, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a member of the Vine Grove Baptist Church, and retired from the Hardin County Detention Center. He was a graduate of North Hardin High School and a member of Open Arms (grandparents raising grandchildren). He was formerly employed with UARCO and as a cook in the dining facilities at Fort Knox. He was a United States Navy veteran who served on the USS Little Rock as a missile technician. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Louise Cook, and a son, John Cook IV. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Cook, Vine Grove; a daughter, Diana Christine “Christy” Conway, Radcliff; a son, William Joseph “Joey” Cook, Vine Grove; four grandchildren, Christina Ann Cook, Louise Marie Cook, Krystelyn Rose Walker and Brent Tyler Conway; three sisters, Mary (Dan) Cantwell, Linda Ann Cook and Lory Cook Padilla, and a brother, Michael Cook, all of Radcliff; a niece, Sherri Cantwell; and numerous out-of-state relatives. Funeral services will be held June 20 at 11 a.m. from Vine Grove Baptist Church with Chaplain Larry Vance officiating. Burial will be in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, directed by Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Radcliff.
