C. RAY STORY

C. Ray Story, 69, Vine Grove, died Aug. 4, 2008, at North Hardin Health & Rehabilitation Center, Radcliff.

He was employed by Hardin County schools from 1960 through 1995 as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, associate superintendent and deputy superintendent. He was president and served on the board of directors for the Kentucky Association of Secondary School Principals; president, Fourth District Kentucky Association of Secondary School Principals and Fourth District Kentucky Association of School Administrators; president, Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control; president, Campbellsville College Alumni Association and two-term member, Elizabethtown Community College Advisory Board. He was the charter president of Vine Grove Optimist Club, chairperson of the first Vine Grove Planning and Zoning Commission, member, Hardin County Public Library Board, and active member of Valley View Baptist Church. In addition to numerous awards, he was honored by North Hardin High School which named the football stadium Ray Story Stadium.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cart and Bertha Story; two brothers, Willard Story and Harold Story; two sisters, Georgia Padgett and Selma Reynolds.

Mr. Story is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue Cecil Story, Vine Grove; two sons, Mark Story, Lexington, and Tim Story, Vine Grove; three brothers, Darrel Story, Glen Story and Randall Story, all of Waynesburg; two sisters, Wilma Gooch, Stanford, and Phyllis McMichael, Leitchfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 from Valley View Baptist Church, Vine Grove, with Rev. K. Christian Burton and Rev. Raymond Ward officiating. Burial was in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, directed by Coffey & Chism Funeral Home.
