Gladys Marie Aebersold Watts, 89, Brandenburg, died Aug. 14, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. She was born Oct. 31, 1918, in Meade County, to the late John Harlan and Daisy Elizabeth Thomas Aebersold. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Brandenburg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Earl Watts; two brothers, Johnnie and Theodore Aebersold; and two sisters, Lucille Bowman and Edith Berryman. Mrs. Watts is survived by two daughters, Nancy Shacklette, Brandenburg, and Janice (Hugh) Frazier, Louisville; a son David Earl (Jill) Watts, Louisville; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sheryl) Shacklette, Tamara (Steve) Williams, Chrissi (Aaron) Doyle and David Matthew (Melissa) Watts; three great-granddaughters, Kara Shacklette, and Halie and Addison Doyle; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home with Dr. Billy D. Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Aug. 16, 2-9 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Aug. 17. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
