RUTH ALCORN

Ruth Alcorn, 96, Florence, formerly of Louisville, died Oct. 15, 2008, in Florence. She was a native of Meade County and the daughter of Thomas P. Elder and Thecla Hardesty.

She was a retired employee of Robbins Pope Engraving Company and member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Florence.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Donald Alcorn.

Mrs. Alcorn is survived by a son, James T. (Margaret) Alcorn; two daughters, Sherrill (Richard) Epley and Patricia (Morris) Elbert; two sisters, Sarah Hall and Rose Baer; a brother, Rudolph Elder; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. from St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, directed by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville. Friends may call at the funeral home Oct. 19, 2-8 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Mass of the Air or Right to Life.
