THOMAS C. BAIRD

Thomas C. Baird, 83, Brandenburg, died Nov. 4, 2008, at Medco Center of Brandenburg. He was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Jellico, Tenn., to the late Clifford H. and Sue (Jones) Baird.

He was retired from the United States Postal Service from the Louisville area, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he saw service in the Pacific theater, a former president of the Brandenburg chapter of NARFE, member of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church, a former president of the Meade County Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Irvington Masonic Lodge #868 F&AM.

Mr. Baird is survived by his wife, Billie J. Baird, Brandenburg; three daughters, Carol Stinson, Louisville, Sue Baird, Clarksville, Ind., and Darlene Maples, New Albany, Ind.; five sons, Wade Baird and Thomas C. Baird Jr., both of of Clarksville, Ind., Dennis Lee Baird, Fordsville, Chris Baird, Brandenburg, and Edgar Lee Baird; two stepsons, Tim Ricketts, Mt. Sterling, and David Ricketts, New Orleans, La.; and a brother, Jim Baird, Harrogate, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home Nov. 6, 2-6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. from Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Ind., directed by Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, Ind. Friends may call at Chapman Funeral Home Nov. 8, 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
