BARBARA L. DOWELL

Barbara L. Dowell, 72, died Feb. 9, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was born Jan. 28, 1936, in Meade County, the daughter of Ronald Lee and Nina Marie Haynes Dowell.

She was retired from Olin Chemical Corp. Doe Run Plant, a member of Hill Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Brandenburg Moose Family Lodge in Brandenburg.

Mrs. Dowell is survived by her three sons she helped raise for her friend who died, Duncan O’Neal Darby, Dillon O’Neal Darby and Dennis R. Darby; a sister, Janice Lee Roberts, Ekron; a brother, James Richard Dowell, Guston; and several grandchildren.

Memorial service were held Feb. 11 from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg. Graveside services followed in Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville.
