SUE BEAVIN HENNINGER SMITH

Sue Beavin Henninger Smith, 73, Irvington, died Jan. 23, 2010, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Kingswood on Aug. 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Walter Burnes and Anna Rae Davis Henninger.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time in her yard and on the farm, and enjoying her husband, children and her family. She had a 40-year career as a deputy Circuit Court clerk focused on District Court with a special affection for juvenile court. She was active in local politics, serving on the Breckinridge County Democratic Executive Committee for many years and was a poll officer for the Garfield precinct.

In recent years, Sue and her husband, Daniel, enjoyed fellowship as members of the Hardinsburg United Methodist Church where she earned the distinct title of “the cookie lady.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Yana Marie Harris.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Daniel H. Smith, whom she married Nov. 27, 1953; daughters, Vickie Sue Frank, Bowling Green, and her children Betsy and Daniel Cathy (Jeff) Tabor, Greenville, S.C.; sister Donna Rae (Jim) Cook, Greenville, Ind.; brother and sister-in-law: Tommy and Dean Smith and many great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 26, at Hardinsburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Shannon officiating. Burial was in the Hensley Cemetery.
