IRENE C. GONSALVES

Irene C. Gonsalves, 82, Radcliff, died Feb. 19, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, with her family by her side. She was born to Peter and Mary Crivello in Honomu, Hawaii. After graduating from Hilo High School, she attended the University of Hawaii, where she joined several clubs but was dedicated to the college newspaper. While in college, she met and married Robert, her loving husband of 60 years. They became an Army family and traveled extensively.

Her interests include family, reading and working the daily crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her mother; father; brother, Anthony; and a grandson, Ricky Gonsalves.
Mrs. Gonsalves is survived by her loving husband, Robert; daughter, Bobbi Gonsalves; two sons, Randall (Barbara) Gonsalves and Col. Ryan (Janet) Gonsalves; three sisters, Margaret Lee, Violet Pruitt and Blanche Iaukea; two brothers Stanley Crivello; Peter Crivello and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m, Feb. 24, at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Radcliff, with the Rev. Dennis Cousens officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff.

Friends and family may call at the Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove from 4 until 8 p.m. Feb. 23 and after 9 a.m. Feb. 24. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Feb. 23, at the funeral home.
