2010 District Champs
The bus ride home from Breckinridge County must have felt awfully short for the Lady Waves Feb. 25.
They had just swept by the Lady Tigers, 71-48, to win the 11th District championship and host the first game of the regional quarter finals March 1. (The regional game was played after the Messenger went to print. Full coverage of the game will be in next week’s edition.) “It feels good, really good,” said senior Alexa Adams, “especially against District rival Breck.”

MAC volleyball clinic planned
The Meade Activity Center is offering a free volleyball clinic for all levels, including beginners. The clinic will be held on four Mondays in April, starting April 5. Other dates are April 12,19 and 26. Clinic times are 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the David T. Wilson Elementary School gym. Conducting the clinic will be members of the Lady Wave volleyball team. A parent permission form – due to the respective school office by March 24 – is required for participation.

Meade County archers compete in NASP Region 3 Archery Tournament
Archers from across the Kentucky region participated in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Region 3 Archery Tournament Feb. 26 and 27. The tournament took place in the gymnasium at Meade County High School. High school teams competed on Friday, while the elementary and middle schoolers competed on Saturday. Click Here For Full Story
5th-graders garner gold

The Meade County 5th-grade boys traveling basketball team has been playing in the Elizabethtown Youth Basketball League on Sundays since Jan. 3. The team ended the regular season play with a 4-2 record. However, they came back to go undefeated in the league tournament on Feb. 20-21, to bring home the championship. On Feb. 21, they overcame an early deficit of 8-0 to a half-time score of 10-8 and dominated the second half to achieve a 28-12 win. Posing for a team picture after their success are Logan Greco, Garrett Ammons, Ethan Miller, Case Medley, Devin Patty, Clayton Kelly, Tyler Haynes and Tyler Andrews. The team is coached by Jay Miller.
