To the Messenger: I am writing this letter to set the record straight on the current 4th District Magistrate position held by Theresa Padgett. My name is Stephanie Lee and I am the daughter of the late Magistrate Ronnie Greenwell. When my father passed away, many people asked my mother, Barbara Greenwell, to take my father’s magistrate position on Fiscal Court. Many days after his accident, she decided that she wanted to finish out the remainder of his term since she knew the projects and objectives he wanted to accomplish. She submitted her application to Frankfort and was notified that the application had been received. A few days later, it came to our attention that Governor Fletcher had decided to give it to a Republican, Theresa Padgett. Again, the main reason for this letter is to set the record straight. My mother, Barbara Greenwell, did in fact submit her application to succeed my father in his term as magistrate. She did NOT turn the position down as many rumors are spreading. I appreciate the community’s continued support for myself and my family through this difficult time. Stephanie Lee
