Meade County Fiscal Court updates appointments By CINDY HENNING Only two fire districts presented recommendations for their fire board trustee appointment to the Fiscal Court as required before June, 2006. The Payneville Fire District called for the reappointment of Tina Greenwell and Bonita Finch was named for the Ekron Fire District. Both were accepted by the court. Nominations from other fire districts were requested by Magistrate Don Callecod. The Solid Waste 109 Board presented the resignation of Hebert Burchett and requested the appointment of Jim Harris in his place. The court was unanimous in accepting these changes. The Ethics Committee has had problems getting a quorum together. Judge Bill Haynes stated that he had met with three of the members last Monday night to discuss the importance of reestablishing the committee. Magistrate Jamie Staples presented Lamar Jones’ name to be approved for the committee, but stated Jones was unable to be present for questions. Magistrates Theresa Padgett and Callecod expressed their need to table the appointment until the candidate could appear before the court. Padgett spoke of her concern about the lack of an active Ethics Committee. Haynes planned to meet with the Ethics committee on May 15. The Board of Adjustments had a position due to expire in June. Joe Hobbs is currently holding that spot, but had not been contacted to see if he wanted to continue. Planning and Zoning Administrator Barbara Campbell assured the court they would receive a recommendation, which she felt would be Joe Hobbs, as soon as they could hold a meeting. Greg Hager was nominated to fill the Riverport Authority seat of his recently deceased father, George Hager. The court unanimously accepted this appointment Click Here to Go Back
