New Greenwave wrestling team 3-3 after first two events By Zach Greenwell The Meade County wrestling team opened its inaugural season on Dec. 6 at Iroquois High School. The Greenwaves defeated Iroquois, 54-28, in the first round of the duals match, but fell to Doss in the second by a slim 41-39 margin. “I thought we did pretty well,” said junior Nathan Kelch, who has started the season at 7-0 in the 160 lbs. weight class. “With us being a new team and not having much experience, we did better than I expected us to.” The Greenwaves also competed in the Nelson County Duals on Saturday, Dec. 9. Meade went 2-2 on the day, picking up wins over Letcher County Central (45-33) and Christian County (42-33). “We are progressively getting better,” said head coach Bob Davis. “We aren’t making the same mistakes we used to, so we are headed in the right direction.” Iroquois High School – Dec. 6 Nelson County Duals – Dec. 9 The Greenwaves next host Fort Knox, North Hardin, and South Oldham Dec. 13 before competing at Seneca High School Dec. 16. “This is going to be a very tough match for us,” said Davis. “These teams are the real deal and this will be a eye-opener for our guys.” Click Here to Go Back
