The Meade County Board of Health met Feb. 26 and heard a report from the committee on school nurses. The committee had met and discussed a letter sent to superintendent of schools Mitch Crump and the members of the Meade County Board of Education. The committee members requested consideration of the school board to fund a position for a clinical nurse in Meade County schools. The Lincoln Trail Health District would absorb 35 percent of the costs of this position, as it does for other school systems in its district. The cost would be $214 per day for a clinical nurse, including supplies and expenses. Committee member Amanda Brown was planning to meet with Crump the next day to request being placed on the school board’s agenda.

In other business, Judge Executive Harry Craycroft was elected chairman of the board of health, and he and Dr. Bill Denton were approved as signatories on the health tax bank account. The board also voted unanimously to accept a bid submitted by Lusk Mechanical for contract maintenance on the heating and air conditioning system.
