Lifeline program continues to gain momentum in Meade County

Teen Challenge’s Lifeline program is gaining momentum in Meade County, as evidenced by the turnout at a Lifeline ladies’ luncheon held on March 3 at Glad Tidings Christian Center.

Profile on Longevity – Elroy Bruington

Elroy Bruington was born Aug. 30, 1925, in Breckinridge County to Marvin and Lora (Wilson) Bruington. The Bruingtons also had a daughter named Evelyn, who is now married to Willis Moremen and resides here in Meade County.

Grave Digger visits Brandenburg

The popular monster truck, Grave Digger, made an appearance March 2 in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts, the sponsor of Monster Jam.

Meade County RECC/KHSAA participates in “Role Model” poster program

For the third consecutive year, Meade County RECC is participating along with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association in the “Role Model” poster program. This year’s poster features men’s baseball and ladies’ softball athletes promoting the practice of good sportsmanship and reminding students to buckle up when driving.

Curves food drive

Curves for Women in Brandenburg is holding its annual food drive, an event that’s been held at Curves’ locations throughout the country for the past nine years. Curves members are invited to bring a bag of nonperishable food items to Brandenburg Curves between the dates of March 1 and March 10.

Solving the writing puzzle

On Feb. 15 and 20, 5th-grade students from across the county joined together to solve the writing puzzle, one piece at a time.

Teddy bear hibernation party

The preschool staff hosted a “Teddy Bear Hibernation Party” on Jan. 25 at David T. Wilson Elementary School. Preschoolers were encouraged to wear their pajamas.

SPMS academic team takes third at Regionals

On Monday Feb. 19, the Stuart Pepper Middle School academic team participated in the 4th Regional Governor’s Cup Competition. Breckinridge County Middle School was the host site for the event.
