Ethics Commission acts to clarify complaint By JOE REDMON The Meade County Ethics Commission gathered for a regular meeting April 10 to accept financial disclosure forms and continue consideration of an ethics complaint. The Commission had tried to meet twice previous to April 10, cancelling both of those meetings, once due to a last-minute family emergency, another time due to lack of a quorum. The Commission voted to accept the latest financial disclosure reports from county officials. All county officials are now in compliance with the ethics ordinance to maintain updated disclosure forms with the Commission. The Commission then entered executive session to discuss the ethics complaint. Upon returning from closed session, they announced the Commission has been asked by the respondent to clarify some aspect of the complaint prior to actually hearing the complaint. Utilizing an abundance of caution, the Ethics Commission has not officially decided whether to conduct a hearing upon this complaint at this time. The Commission agreed to reply to the respondent’s request in writing, setting a follow-up meeting for April 30 at 7 p.m. to continue deliberations.
