Firm Foundation to perform in Brandenburg June 24
Submitted Article The southern gospel group Firm Foundation will perform at Meade County General Baptist Church (New Highland Church Road, Brandenburg) June 24 at 10:50 a.m. Brandenburg’s Nick Bennett recently joined the gospel group. Bennett was formerly a baritone singer with local gospel groups East to West and New Dawning, as well as a vocalist for the local Contemporary Christian group Narrowminded. Bennett also served as the praise and worship director at Meade County General Baptist Church for the past two years. Other members of Firm Foundation include Steve Bridgmon, Owensboro; Anthony Davis, Dyersburg, Tenn.; and Matt Kohler, California, Mo. Firm Foundation is quickly becoming a staple in the mid-west in the southern gospel industry. They have performed in over 25 states and as far away as Mexico and the Caribbean. Television appearances on the TCT Network and GMT (Gospel Music Television) have taken their music to the masses. The group will be back in the recording studio June 4, working with the award-winning Crossroads Music Group. Bridgmon said some of the most anointed songwriters in the industry have given their blessing to record the songs God has given them. “Passing them on to us is an answered prayer,” he said. Firm Foundation was recently nominated for a Diamond Award, the “Sunrise Group of the Year.” This award is given to the group that has come the farthest (musically) in the last year. Their latest project, “Good to Know,” was released in June 2006. The first radio single, “Something Better in Mind,” was picked up by the Rick Hendrix Company, the company behind such artists as Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Bette Midler and Johnny Cash. In 2007, the song appeared on the 38th Annual Dove Awards ballot for Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year. Industry professionals rated the song among the top 10 songs of the year. Their single “If It Wasn’t For The Cross” rose to the #1 spot on the Heavenly Tracks Gospel Music Chart in March 2007. The future looks bright for Firm Foundation. With a brand new album in the works, the group is planning concerts in Jamaica, new appearances on Gospel Music Television and early plans for a European Tour in 2008, where their first radio single charted at #1 in 2004. The ministry of Firm Foundation, however, is the most important part of their travels. Bridgmon said, “We’re not a household name yet. We are a ministry first and foremost and we want to stay focused on that.” Click Here to Go Back
