Greenwave basketball to host annual Shoot-Out June 11-13 By Zach Greenwell The Meade County basketball team will continue its summer schedule by hosting the annual Greenwave Summer Shoot-Out June 11-13. The event began in 2004 with five teams and will feature 15 teams this year from Kentucky and Indiana. “We have some great competition coming in,” said head coach Jerry Garris. “It’s a good chance for us to see where we stand against some very good teams.” Thirty-three games will be played in three days at three gyms throughout the county, as the high school gym will not be used this year due to construction. Only varsity teams will compete this year, and certified referees will be in charge of the games. The Greenwaves will compete against six of the participating teams, including matchups with powers Jeffersontown, Male and Fairdale. Games will begin at 5:30 p.m. each day, with the last game on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 8:30 p.m. The final game on Monday will start at 7:30 p.m. Concessions will be sold at the games and admission will be $1.
