PEOPLE DARYL TROUTMAN Daryl Troutman has been accepted to the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio, to begin classes in the August session. He will be majoring in the HVAC-R program. TIMOTHY WIX University of the Cumberlands recognized Timothy Wix, Ekron, as a high honor student during the annual Honor’s Day service held April 21. High honor recognition is given to those students attaining a 3.85 cumulative grade point average. CAITLIN CARTER Caitlin Carter, Vine Grove, has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship as part of the annual Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship program. Carter is one of 100 high school seniors from across the United States who received this award based on their academic achievement and leadership in agriculture. Carter is expected to attend Western Kentucky University in the fall to pursue a career as an agricultural financial services officer. DEREK JUSTIN SMITH Derek Justin Smith, a Hardinsburg native and graduate student at the University of Kentucky, is the recipient of the $1,000 Louis F. Ison Memorial Scholarship. PVT. MICHAEL X. O’LEARY Army Pvt. Michael X. O’Leary has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
David Thomas Hartley graduated March 29 from Lincoln College of Technology Indianapolis. He completed an 18-month course and is now a certified auto-diesel technician.
Emily Ryan Cole graduated with honors May 4 from the University of Kentucky as a pre-law student with a bachelor of arts degree in social work
Christina M. Austin graduated with honors April 26 with her masters in business administration from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
