Greenwaves drop soggy one to Bulldogs
The John Hardin Bulldogs came into Death Valley Sept. 5 knowing their hosts – the Meade County Greenwaves – had won the last six games there. The Bulldogs were determined to end this streak as well as preserve their state ranking in Division 5A, and they succeeded on both. Ranked third in 5A, they held the Greenwaves scoreless, while tacking on 16 points of their own.

Adoring fans gathered to celebrate their idol, Kentucky’s own, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, during Super Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Meade County Public Library.
The Best of Both Worlds, the new 3-D movie captures the 14-year-old superstar, Miley Cyrus, in concert on her 2007 54-city tour. She performs as both solo artist and as her popular television character, Hannah Montana. Of course, the requisite 3-D glasses were worn to insure quality viewing.

Drug court seeks to change lives one by one
Circuit Judge Bruce T. Butler and drug court specialist Becky Heibert were honored guests at the first annual banquet of Meade County Lifeline Aug. 30. A faith-based alternative to secular 12-step recovery programs, Meade County Lifeline is currently preparing to provide services to the drug courts of Meade, Breckinridge and Grayson counties, the counties served by Butler and Judge Robert Miller, both of whom will preside over drug court.
Butler acknowledged a place for faith-based alternatives to court-ordered secular programs, and that’s where organizations like Lifeline can play a role in drug court. Butler congratulated Lifeline director Joyce Mann and the organization for their tireless efforts in responding to a growing drug problem.

Kentucky motocross series continues
Motorcycle and quad racing were the order of the day Aug. 30 when the Kentucky Fair Motocross Series “Shredding the Bluegrass” came to the Meade County Motocross Park at the Meade County Fairgrounds.
Typically held in conjunction with the Meade County Fair, the motocross races have expanded to a series this year. Racers of all ages descended on the fairgrounds to compete in a grueling, all-day event. A number of classes raced, allowing racers of all skill levels to compete at their level of proficiency.
