Greenwave golf tops Bullitt East

The Meade County boys’ golf team looked to continue their undefeated nine-hole match season when they traveled to Shepherdsville to take on Bullitt East High School. During their streak of nine-hole wins, the Greenwaves had played all of their matches at home, and this was the first test away from home.

Lady Waves drop volleyball match to Owensboro Lady Red Devils

On Sept. 2, the Lady Red Devils from Owensboro High School came to Meade County to play a little volleyball. Fresh off recent victories over Owensboro Catholic and Apollo, and sporting an 8-3 record, they were full of confidence and ready to do battle.

The Lady Waves were also confident going into the game. Both the freshman and junior varsity teams had won in straight sets, and the Lady Waves expected they too would emerge victorious.

Meade County opens soccer district play with win over North Hardin

Off to a fast start at 3-1-1, the Meade County Greenwave soccer team began their district season Sept. 2 by traveling to North Hardin to take on the rival Trojans.

Behind goals from Logan Raley, Ryan Fackler and Kerry Rupe, Meade County defeated the Trojans to win their district opener, 3-2.

Panthers silence Greenwave soccer team

After winning their first district game against North Hardin Sept. 2, the Meade County Greenwave soccer team (4-1-1) looked to continue their fast start when they matched up against another district foe in 18th-ranked Elizabethtown High School.

From the beginning, the Panthers looked for shots against the Meade County defense and found success when they scored a goal in the first four minutes. An E-town striker ripped a shot at Meade County goalkeeper Jordan Compton, who made a save, but the loose ball was driven into the back of the net by another E-town player.

Meade cross country fares well in Daviess relays

On Aug. 29, the Meade County boys’ and girls’ cross country teams traveled to Daviess County to participate in the Daviess County XC Invitational 6K Relay. With expectations high, Meade County looked to begin their season with some great runs.

On the girls’ side, Tiffany Brown and Shelby Jenkins finished in second place, while April Level and Cynthia Smith finished in eighth place. Brown and Jenkins finished with a total time of 24 minutes and 12 seconds, running splits of 12:30 and 11:42, respectively. Level and Smith finished with a total time of 25 minutes and 18 seconds, running splits of 12:08 and 13:10, respectively.

Marching band takes
reserve grand champion

This just in: The Meade County High School marching band won reserve grand champion during their competition over the weekend. Stay tuned for more coverage of this great group of musicians.
