New library plans and sketches released
After a joint effort between the Meade County Public Library Board and the City of Brandenburg, the new library is becoming a reality.
A five-acre parcel of land was purchased in December 2008, from Virginia Miller at a cost of $195,000. The land is located on Old Ekron Road, across from the Meade County Extension office. The funds were taken from the library’s cash reserves. Miller generously donated an additional three acres to the City of Brandenburg for construction of a park as well.

Dick Frymire, treeologist, casts his famous yearly weather prediction
If you want to know how to keep ticks off of you in the summer, or how much snow you’ll get in the winter, 83-year-old L.H. “Dick” Frymire, Irvington, is the person to ask.
Frymire is a self-proclaimed treeologist, and has been predicting the weather for more than four decades. He learned the craft from an elderly gentleman while he was at a convention in New York. The man told Frymire how to predict the weather by observing trees.
