Missed Free Throws save Ladywaves

Sometimes when it seems that there are games where everything is going your way, and then there are games where it seems that you can’t do anything right. That’s exactly what happened to the Meade County High School Ladywave Basketball team on Jan 21, in their game against the Bardstown Lady Tigers. Meade opened the game with an eight-point run while keeping Bardstown’s shooters in check, but Bardstown came storming back to tie the game midway through the first period. Meade was able to grab a four-point lead at the end of the first after junior Jenna Gallimore hit a pair of 3-pointers. The second period was a game of defense as both teams made it difficult for either offense to get anything going on the court. Meade was held to just six-points in the second period, which all came by the way of put backs after grabbing an offensive rebound. Bardstown didn’t fair much better on offense as Meade held them to only 10-points, but that was just enough to tie the game, (26-26) at the half.
“With Kendall (Wingler) out it was up to the younger kids to step it up and bring their A game, and I believe they did that,” Hackert said, “Jenna (Gallimore) had a terrific game and was out on the floor leading them. That’s what we need when someone is down, others who will step in and take charge. We still made some minor mistakes, but that’s just things we need to work and improve on.”
