Greenwaves outpace Cougars

On Feb. 4, the Meade County High School Greenwaves basketball team put their overtime loss to Breckenridge County behind them and moved on to their next challenge, the Grayson County Cougars. At the start of the game Meade seemed to have a new pep in their step, sinking baskets quickly to jump out to a seven-point lead before Grayson even scored a point. Grayson began to find their groove, as their defense tightened up on Meade to force turnovers, allowing them to slowly claw their way back into the game, where they finally tied the game at 9-9 with just under two-minutes left in the first. Meade slowed their offensive game play down allowing them to set up for one of their seniors, Parker Johnston, to get away from his defender to drive the middle where he dunk over another Grayson defender to spark a 9-0 run by Meade to finish out the first period with a seven point. For the remainder of the first half both teams continued to match each other basket for basket, allowing for Meade to carry their seven-point lead into the half leading 25-18.
