MINNIE LUCILLE (WHELAN) RAY Minnie Lucille (Whelan) Ray, 80, Madisonville, formerly of Meade County, died Nov. 11, 2007, at Select Specialty Hospital, Evansville, Ind. She was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Vine Grove, the daughter of the late James and Minnie Whelan. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Sacred Heart and Miraculous Medal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerald R. Ray, Madisonville; six daughters, Elaine Hunter and Jeanette Seats, Madisonville, Phyllis Winstead and Mary Browder, Sacramento, Ky., Anita Watson, Crofton, and Cheryl Ray-Estrada, Albuquerque, N.M.; seven sons, Thomas Ray, James Ray, Steve Ray and Michael Ray, all of Madisonville, Gerald A. Ray and Kenny Ray, Manitou, and Joseph Ray, Albuquerque, N.M.; four sisters, Margaret Lancaster, Louisville, Lillie Pike, Flaherty, Dorothy Adkisson, Ekron, and Georgia Lee Hardesty, Shepardsville; a brother, Joseph Eugene Whelan, Vine Grove; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. from Christ The King Catholic Church with Father Gerald Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in St. Martin Church Cemetery, Meade County. Friends may call at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, Madisonville, Nov. 13, 4-8 p.m. with prayer services at 7 p.m., and from 8-9:30 a.m. Nov. 14.
