THOMAS HARDY SMITH

Thomas Hardy Smith, 77, Brandenburg, died March 13, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born in Cedar Bluff., Va., to Walker and Virgie Smith.

He married Wanda Blankenship and later married Tillie M. Mercer.

He served in the military and was also a police officer. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Sheila A. Gibson, Battletown; two sons, James Smith, Harpers Ferry, W. Va., and Gary L. Smith, Oregon; three stepchildren, Tony Thurston, Timmy Mann and Kenny Mann, all of West Virginia; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation was handled by the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home and a small private service was held at the family’s home.
