Alice Victoria Swink Everton Sturgeon, 86, Union Star, died June 19, 2010, at University Hospital. She was born in Ammons, on Sept. 22, 1923, the daughter of the late June and Victoria Belle Masterson Swink.

She was a retired housekeeper who enjoyed gardening and quilting. Spending time with and caring for her children and their children put the “sparkle in her eyes.” She was a Navy veteran.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Lee Everton and Russell Sturgeon, and a grandson, Jamie Hinton.

Mrs. Sturgeon is survived by seven children, Barry Sturgeon and Carl Sturgeon, Union Star, Julia Chick, Louisville, Alice Faye Hinton, Montgomery City, Mo.,Darlene McDonald, Rome, Ga., Marvin Lee Everton Jr, Hardinsburg, and Greg Sturgeon, Garfield; a brother, Harold Swink, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren

A memorial service will be held June 23, at 1 p.m. CST from the chapel of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Williams and the Rev. Chris Wilson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Union Star Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Union Star Cemetery.
