MARGARET HUGHES FRYMIRE MEDLEY

Margaret Hughes Frymire Medley, 85, Louisville, formerly of Meade County, entered into eternal peace on June 24, 2010, at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Grover C. Frymire and a daughter, Beverly Sue Frymire.

Mrs. Medley is survived by her husband, Joseph Lamar Medley; three daughters, Frances (Ivol) Caudill, Jeanie (George) Snyder, Beth Frymire; three grandchildren, Stephanie Caudill, Clay (Lea) Caudill, Josh (Lindy) Snyder; and four great-grandchildren, Schuyler and Katie Kasee, Trey Caudill and Kate Caroline Snyder. She is also survived by five stepchildren, Gary (Sharon) Medley, Teri (Bill) Skipworth, Mark (Alenia) Medley, Tim (Teresa) Medley, and Kelli Bisig and 14 step- grandchildren.
Many Meade Countians still remember Margaret as the “Bookmobile Lady,” which she drove for many years. She retired from the Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children. Her lifelong passion was creating – along with Eleanor Barger – the Meade County Association for Retarded Citizens. Their tireless work and persistence brought about the creation of the Anchor House and Workshop in Brandenburg. Margaret was a true believer in community action. She was the first woman mayor of Ekron, a member of the Literacy Council, served on the board for Habitat for Humanity, volunteered at the Clothes Closet, was a Red Cross volunteer, a member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. For many years she was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Brandenburg. At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Peter the Apostle in Louisville. She was an avid gardener, accomplished seamstress, a bird watcher, sometimes poet and story writer. She was never so happy as when she was playing her beloved piano.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on June 28, from St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Brandenburg. Burial was in St. George Cemetery.
