BILLY ELTON BARNES


Billy Elton Barnes, 78, Brandenburg, died Aug. 30, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Jefferson County, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a member of Bethesda Ministries and an interior decorator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Mae Sadler and Marion Russell Barnes Sr.; two brothers, Marion Russell Barnes Jr. and Donnie Barnes; a sister, Lillie Mae Love; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Helen Blan Barnes; three sons, Marion (Cheryl) Barnes, Brandenburg, Jerry (Donna) Barnes, Hardinsburg, and Victor (Faye) Barnes, Cox’s Creek; a daughter, Vivian (Richard) Ledford, Mount Washington; four brothers, Bobby (Vadis) Barnes, Louisville, Charles Barnes and the Rev. Thomas (Louise) Barnes, all of Elizabethtown, and Ronnie Barnes, Hodgenville; two sisters, Wanda (Leroy) Judd and Wilma (Danny) Smith, all of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 2, from the chapel of the Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Payne officiating. Burial was in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
