GEORGE ESTLE VOWELS

George Estle Vowels, 75, Vine Grove, died Oct. 3, 2010, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Louisville.

He was a retired barber and owner of Estle’s Barber Shop in Vine Grove. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the AmVets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret Vowels; two sisters, Shirley Lingo and Dicky Smith; a brother, Tommie Vowels; and a great-granddaughter, Gracie Helen New.
Mr. Vowels is survived by his wife, Helen Vowels, Vine Grove; a daughter, Roxie Claywell, Vine Grove; three sons, Randy (Marianne) Vowels, Radcliff, Pat (Susan) Vowels, Elizabethtown, and Jerry Vowels, Louisville; two sisters, Dorothy Morse, Radcliff, and Patty Sims, Vine Grove; three granddaughters; four grandsons; a great-grandson; and three great-granddaughters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 7, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Vine Grove with the Rev. Daniel L. Lincoln officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Brigid Cemetery in Vine Grove.
Friends and family may call Oct. 6, from 3 until 8 p.m. and on Oct. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at the chapel of the Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 6, at the funeral home.
